Founded in 1986, Smith’s Catering Company is one of the leading catering companies in London, alongside other exceptional businesses. They are the preferred choice for corporate clients, universities, sports clubs, fashion brands, and entertainment agencies in London.

Smith’s catering ethos is simple: reliably delivering top-quality food while exploring international cuisines. They prepare all menus from scratch using fresh, seasonal produce sourced from local certified British suppliers (the more local, the better). They are fully equipped to meet special dietary needs and offer gluten-free and vegan catering menus and halal options.

Building a Team

Chris, the Head Chef at Smith's Catering, along with his friend Peter Platt, embarked on their exciting journey of starting Smith's Catering Company right around the corner from the busy Smithfield Market in London.

Business Growth

While Smith’s initially began its journey in Smithfield, the business grew and moved to a modern custom-built kitchen in Whitechapel in 2008. Since that exciting transition, their growth has been quite remarkable!

A Family Business

In 2020, Smith's Catering became a family-run company. Co-founders Chris and Natalie see it as a personal homecoming. As local foodies, they know where to find the best seasonal produce and are part of a thriving Kent network that values local English food. Over the years, they have built strong relationships with top local wedding and corporate venues.

Sustainable Growth

In 2021, responding to their green approach commitment, Smith’s Catering opened a modern new kitchen near the M25 in Kent. This prime location allows Smith’s Catering to deliver and serve corporate events and private venues more effectively across Kent, Surrey, and Greater London. Head Chef Chris created a new kitchen to uphold quality and sustainability. Smith’s menus feature locally sourced ingredients from selected suppliers in Kent and Surrey as much as possible, making Chris’s dishes definitely memorable!

We recently used Smith’s Catering services for the UCL Geographical Society’s annual winter ball and had an excellent experience! It can always be a hassle to find catering companies that fit your budget, provides good value for money, and good food. I am happy to inform that Smith’s ticks all three boxes. I was assisted by Natalie Conroy who was present with the planning process from start to finish. She is a lovely person and very keen to help out! Her replies were always timely and she listened to any and all concerns or requests we had. On the day of the event, the staff arrived on time and helped with the set up and made sure dinner service was ready at the time we requested. They cleared all plates and made sure to clean up when they left. All the food was delicious and our guests had positive feedback on everything. We were also impressed by the range of meal choices as well as their inclusion of any dietary requirements. Smith’s provides nut-free, halal, vegan, and vegetarian options which meant we were able to cater to all our guests’ needs as well. I was thoroughly impressed by this as well as their value for money. Overall, it was truly memorable and I would definitely recommend their services for anyone looking for budget-friendly, accommodating, and friendly catering for any sort of event.

Natalie's team was prompt and efficient in delivering the food, ensuring that it arrived on time and in perfect condition. The dishes were well presented, and the food itself was absolutely delicious. We received numerous compliments from our guests on how flavorful and well-prepared the meal was.

Smiths catered our wedding and they were absolutely fantastic. We truly could not say enough good things about them. Right from the start Natalie was very communicative and helpful - she even picked us up at the train station when we came down for a tasting. Throughout the whole preparation process Natalie and Chris helped us with every question and change of mind imaginable and never once said no. We could tell they take a lot of pride in their business and really care about offering their clients the best possible experience.

We only had our venue for an hour before the reception and we were doing the set-up ourselves. Other caterers turned us down because of this but Chris and Natalie and their team accepted the challenge and were superstars helping us set up. Everything ran smoothly on the day, set-up and tear-down with the Smiths team went off without a hitch, and the food was genuinely wonderful. Our guests had lots of compliments on the food and the desserts - the chocolate mousse especially was a huge hit with the children.

Overall we owe a HUGE thank you to the Smiths team for all of their hard work! We had a wonderful celebration, in no small part thanks to Smiths, and we would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for catering.

Chris and Natalie did an amazing job at our wedding. They are absolute pros: super organised, attentive to our plans and the food was delicious. The service was also excellent. Smith's catered for my Son's wedding and we were very impressed with them. They did all that they said they would and went above and beyond as the reception was delayed due to traffic problems and the meal was an hour late - they were very gracious and pleasant about this and served us excellently.

We used Natalie and her team to cater at a recent event we held in our London office. Before the event, Natalie was always very quick to respond to my questions and alleviate any concerns around dietary requirements. On the evening, Chris, Louis and Fadi were so friendly and helpful, they were very efficient at setting up and packing away and did a great job of serving our guests. We opted for a cold finger buffet which was delicious, and beyond exceeded our expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to use Smiths Catering again next time we have a need for catering!
